And the reason for the matter is that the hairs are hooks (Vavim), because their root is drawn through their passing through the membrane (Kruma), which is of the Tifferet of Atik, as above; therefore they bestow upon Zeir Anpin. But the whitenesses are from Netzah and Hod themselves, which are the eyes and the ears, in a place where there are no hairs. Therefore the righteous, who are from Yesod, suckle from the whitenesses of Netzah and Hod that are above Yesod. Understand this.

1 The hairs are hooks, etc. Therefore they bestow upon Zeir Anpin; but the Chivaret are from NH themselves, etc. Therefore the righteous, who are from Yesod, nurse from the Chivaret of NH that are above Yesod: Meaning, everything received from the Chivaret [bright strands] has in it a matter of some clothing, like the Chivaret of Arich Anpin, which is clothed in the skin of the Galgalta, as said above. But what is received from the hairs cannot clothe in the recipient except in the aspect of surrounding lights, and nothing at all in the aspect of internal lights. Therefore Zeir Anpin, whose principal is the discernment of HGT, whose way is in covered Hassadim, as is known, cannot receive from the Chivaret, which is some clothing in the skin, but only from the hairs. For the locks of hair of Arich Anpin that reach, at the time of the Gadlut of Zeir Anpin, to the place of his nape, opposite the brain of Daat, clash with his Mochin — meaning, they bestow upon him an illumination of Hochma, which is a discernment opposite to his internal Mochin. And then this illumination cannot remain within his Mochin in internality, but goes out from the forehead in the aspect of surrounding light, called the tefillin of the head. Thus the illuminations of the hairs of Arich Anpin that reach Zeir Anpin shine in him only in the aspect of surrounding light upon his forehead. But the righteous, who are the discernment of NHY of Zeir Anpin, receive from the Chivaret, which clothe also in the internality of the Yesod to some measure, and this is because they are NHY, which is the place of the revelation of the Hassadim, as is known. And there is a Zohar passage, which the ARI interprets, that the discernment of the righteous revolves around the discernment of the Yesod of Zeir Anpin itself, which is comprised of NH.
