And since it is so, it is found that the coupling of the night does not avail to bring out new souls, since there is still no vessel there; however, it will avail to renew the old souls, like the example of the vessel in her, which too is now renewed in the coupling of the night, in this verse of Baruch Shem of the Shema, as is explained by us.

1 The coupling of the night does not avail to bring out new souls, since there is still no vessel there: Meaning, even new souls of the discernment of back to back do not come out in the coupling of the night, but only the discernment of the completion of the vessels; for as long as she has only GE and lacks NHY, she is not fit for coupling, and therefore the first union is needed at night, in order to bring the bottom Hey down from her Einayim to the mouth, by which her AHP are raised and joined to her Partzuf, and she is completed with ten vessels. And afterward, in the coupling of the day, once she already has the ten Sefirot of vessels, which are the discernment of GAR of Ruach, she can raise MAN and receive the coupling of souls, and then bring out new souls of the discernment of back to back. But new souls of the discernment of face to face do not come out at all from the destruction of the Temple onward, as the ARI writes before us.
